Analysis

Our standard for new analysis is to explain the chain of events an outcome would require, cite dated sources, separate evidence from assumptions, and examine what could prevent it. Possible does not mean likely. We avoid numerical probability claims without a defensible method.

History

New historical articles should distinguish documented events from interpretation and explain the limits of comparisons with the present.

Satire

Satire is fiction or deliberate exaggeration for humor. It will be clearly labeled in the article and its description, separately from research.

Archived essays

Our 2019 and 2020 essays retain their original text and dates. They include opinion and humor. Their historical medical, economic, and political claims should not be treated as current guidance or newly verified research.

Sources and revisions

New research should link to primary evidence where available, identify uncertainty and disagreement, and credit its author. Substantive corrections should be explained visibly. Updating a page design does not mean its underlying claims were reviewed.

Commercial relationships

If advertising, sponsorships or affiliate links are introduced, those relationships should be disclosed clearly. Commercial interests should not determine research conclusions.
