It started in a parking lot
The idea began in a parking lot. Looking at the cars around him, Leon realized that their exact arrangement might never repeat. Predicting that particular pattern beforehand would have been extraordinarily difficult, yet there it was. That observation became the starting point for ThatCouldHappen: a place to explore unexpected history and the conditions that could bring possible futures into being.
An unlikely exact outcome is not the same as an unlikely kind of event. Our analysis asks what would make a scenario possible, what could prevent it, and how much the evidence supports it.
